Demon king

Bree gave me these books a while ago and I just never got into them. Glad she was patient with me cause now that I finished the first one, I am eager to start the second one.  I find it hard to follow the different clans and town names and such, would like to see a map of the world to help me sort it out in my head but I guess my imagination has to do that. Its a bit predictable but still enjoyable none the less. I like Raisa, the princess heir. I think I would be like her. Amon, him I like too, but I don't see them actually getting together. I wonder about Han and raisa, but not sure yet.  Sometimes I think the clan leaders aren't that great of a leadership, but whatever. Anyway...looking forward to reading the exciled queen.

The help.

Finished reading the help. Thank you Margaret for letting me read it before your mom.  I enjoyed it. I liked the different viewpoints.

The Last Song

Away for the weekend, with the sole purpose of relaxing, aka reading. Finished the book the last song, by Nicholas sparks. I like his books even if they are somewhat cheasy.  Predictable, yet still heartwarming. It was an enjoyable read while overlooking the ocean. Thank you Kim for providing such a great place to relax, aka, read.
Now, I have The Help in my hands to read. Still have plenty of reading hours left in the weekend.

Contagion

Makes you wanna wash your hands a million times a day and not touch anything. Pretty amazing cast. Gives you a lot to think about, given the sure possibility of it actually happening. Anyway.. its the movie about a virus and how quickly it spreads through the world and how society reacts to it. Scary. Matt damen gained weight though and it took me forever to figure out one of the actresses - turns out it was Jennifer ehle from BBC version of pride and prejudice.

The Host

I just can't seem to do it. I am trying really to read The Host by Stephanie Meyer, but I can't read it without just glancing over the words. I read paragraph after paragraph but then have no idea what I just read. Maybe I should try reading it in actual book format and not on my phone.

Nothing like a weekend with the flu in front of the tv

I watched many movies this weekend: Time Travelers Wife, Prince of Persia, X-men 2, A Good Year, I know there were a few more in there. I must have fallen asleep.  I do love movies.

One Day

I went to see One Day at the clova last night with Bree.  It was a very depressing movie yet I liked it.  I'm not normally an Anne Hathaway fan but I liked her in this movie. It basically follows the lives of a girl and a guy over 20 years and how they eventually got together. Jim Sturgess plays the guy.  It got pretty bad reviews but it wasn't your typical predictable romantic comedy. Well, it wasn't a romantic comedy.
On a side note, I've been doing a lot of running and working out lately - word of advice: work out before you go to a movie. I only had a few sips of pop - I wasnt interested in drinking pop. I guess that's an added bonus to regular work outs - I don't like drinking pop as often. My body craves water.

Cry the beloved country

Just was talking with my aunt and she recommended this book "cry the beloved country" by Jean Paton.
Need to add that to my list of books to read but unfortunately I can't update my lists from my mobile - I can only create new posts.  I will play around and see.
Still reading the day the falls stood still...almost done it (again).

The Day The Falls Stood Still

This is what I am currently reading. I bought it on ereader a while back and this is my third time reading it. I hardly ever just pick a book, but the review enticed me. Its a nice love story. It is set in the early 1900's near Niagra Falls. Its about an upper class girl who falls in love with a fishmonger. This is the author's first book apparently (I tried googling her name for more books by her, but her site only listed this one book), but I thought it was well written and gave some interesting facts about the Niagra Falls. Anyway, its a good read. Highly recommend it.

The Help

I just saw the movie tonight with Samantha and Bree. I was told it was Ok to watch the movie before having read the book. Well, I enjoyed the movie, so now I gotta read the book.

I enjoyed the movie because it sure made me grateful for living in this generation and in this part of the world. I am so blessed.

I love Emma Stone - have only seen 2 movies with her - funny, its the latest 2 movies I have seen in the theatre - Crazy Stupid Love - that was really funny.

Well, Here it Is!

This is my new blog to keep track of the things I like to do to escape my reality. Now, don't go thinking that I don't love my reality too, but I really like escaping it for a little while (or sometimes a long while) to read a book or watch a movie. I love to get so enthralled in a book that I stay up till 2am just to finish it, or my kids have to make their own dinner because I can't put the book down. I love to go see a movie and come away feeling "man, that was money well spent", or watch a movie over and over again and never get bored of it.

The purpose of this blog really is for me, but if you want to read it, by all means. This blog will:

  • keep track of books I read - maybe write a brief review of it, but I am no writer - see my sister Kim's blog "dead houseplants" for amazing book review

  • keep a list of books I want to read but haven't yet

  • keep a list of books I want to own (anybody looking for a gift idea for me - visit this list often)

  • track which movies I have seen recently and what I thought of them and who I went to see it with

  • keep a list of movies I want to own
